FAQ

HOW IS THE MENTORSHIP RUN?

Class sessions will be held 2 times per week for 4 weeks via Google Hangouts.  Meeting inks will be provided before each session.

We will also be documenting assignments and staying in communicating via private Slack channel. Once enrolled, students will be added to the Slack channel where we can remain in constant communication throughout the course.

Each lecture and student critique will be recorded and sent out after each class.

DOES IT MATTER IF I HAVE A MAC OR PC?

It does not matter what kind of computer you are using . As long as it has an internet connection and it can ideally run adobe After Effects.

WHAT IF I MISS CLASS?

All class sessions are recorded and uploaded to a private playlist that only students can access. As long as you can turn in your homework, you can watch the feedback at a later time.

WHAT SOFTWARE DO I NEED?

Students are welcome to use any programs they like in order to get the assignments completed. This is an animation course and although not required, students are highly encouraged to download
Adobe After Effects.

WHAT LEVEL OF SKILL IS REQUIRED FOR THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM?

All skill levels are accepted in the mentorship program.

Home work assignments will be tailored to all student's level of understanding.

Basic knowledge of user experience is  recommended but not required.

HOW MUCH STUDYING IS REQUIRED?

This course is intensive and to get the most out of the curriculum, the average amount of practice that should be dedicated to the exercises (dependent on the skill level) is between 3 to 8 hours per homework  assignment.

WHAT  IS THE CURRICULUM  LIKE ?

The course is rigorous and is designed to teach students how to animate and  properly apply animation methods in user experience. Once a week, students will be assigned a design exercise (of varying difficulty) that will be critiqued in the following lecture. Quite a bit of reading material will be assigned through the course.

Students will learn how to animate, how to approach motion in user experience, and how to create  specifications for engineers.

"Ali is a marvelous and supportive mentor. As an expert in his field in his work, he is extremely resourceful. He is an approachable, pleasant, and knowledgeable professional. Ali truly teaches how to LEVERAGE UI and UX as opposed to rooting all design decisions in strictly aesthetic. I highly recommend him as a mentor and instructor."
